National History Day 2023

Dr. Riendeau had four 11th grade UConn ECE students participate in the state level contest for National History Day on Saturday, May 6th 2023. To qualify for states, student had to place in the top three in their category at the regional contest back in March. Our four students were Denayah Bostick, Justin Fargo, Connor Cox, and Lael Ali Atti.

They all presented their research with confidence and professionalism. Denayah’s project, entitled “Mary Townsend Seymour: Rethinking the Role of Women and African Americans in the Connecticut Political Frontier”  was the one project of many that was awarded with a special prize in Outstanding Entry Related to an Under-Represented Connecticut Community which is sponsored by Connecticut Landmarks. She will receive a small monetary prize and a certificate for her recognition.

Thank you to the parents who supported our scholarship endeavors (including Mr. Fargo) and Mr. Wilson, who stopped by  for moral support and with pizza for all of our participants!
