Weather Delays/Cancellations – FAQ

Bus transportation is provided for your student by the town that you reside in.

2-Hour delay – Homeroom starts at 9:18 a.m.

Some town policies vary regarding transportation for delayed openings.  It is strongly recommended that you contact your town’s Board of Education to clarify their transportation procedures for delayed openings.  Student absences will be unexcused if the sending town provided transportation.

How can I find out if school has been cancelled or delayed?

School delays and cancellations are listed on the following TV stations as well as online:

NBC/WVIT-Channel 30 (nbcconnecticut.com), WFSB-Channel 3 (wfsb.com), WTNH-Channel 8 (wtnh.com), and

Fox 61 (foxct.com).

School delays and cancellations are also announced on the following radio stations:

CBS Radio (WTIC1080)

School delays and cancellations will also be posted on Twitter and Facebook (follow us @Windham THS).

School Messenger will send a voice message to the designated phone number.

My student attends Windham Tech and they have a 2-Hour delay, but the town I live in does not, what do I do?

Your student will be picked up at their normal time and dropped off at Windham Tech.  There will be staff available to supervise students that arrive early.

My student attends Windham Tech but the town I live in has a 90-minute delay, what do I do?

Your student will be picked up at his/her bus stop 90 minutes later than their normal pick up time. 

My students attends Windham Tech but the town I live in has a 2-hour delay, what do I do?

Your student will be picked up at his/her bus stop 2 hours later than their normal pick up time.

My student attends Windham Tech and the town that I live in has cancelled school because of the weather, do I have to bring my child to school?

If the town you live in has cancelled school due to inclement weather your student will be excused from school for that day.  If Windham Tech is in session and the student wishes to come to school, it is the responsibility of the parent to provide transportation to and from school on that day.

The town that I live in has just announced that they’re having an early dismissal due to the weather.  How does this affect my student?

The sending town will notify Windham Tech that they are sending a bus to pick up their students.  Students will be released to their bus when it arrives.  Walkers and student drivers will also be released at the town’s designated release time.

Windham Tech has just announced that they’re having an early dismissal due to the weather.  How does this affect my student?

Windham Tech would contact all the sending towns to inform them of the early dismissal.  In most cases, the sending towns are dismissing early as well. Early dismissals are typically at noon.
